Selective Listeneing

A medical doctor who was invited as a guest speaker to address a group of alcoholics. He wanted to make a demonstration that would be powerful enough to make people realize that alcohol was injurious to their health.

He had two containers, one with pure distilled water and one with pure alcohol. He put an earthworm into the distilled water and it swam beautifully and came up to the top.

He put another earthworm into the alcohol and it disintegrated in front of everyone's eyes.

He wanted to prove that this was what alcohol did to the insides of our body.

He asked the group what the moral of the story was, and ...

...one person from behind said, "If you drink alcohol you won't have worms in your stomach.’’

"Was that the message? Of course not.

That was selective listening ....

We hear what we want to hear and not what is being said.

Friendship : From My Mental Vision

Truly great friends are....
hard to FIND,
difficult to LEAVE, and....
impossible to FORGET!!!

Friendship is best of the unseen smiles of two hearts...!!
.....the unknown trust that holds them strong,
the pains that prove how happy their friendship is…..!!

Is it true? If yes...my friend, please proceed further....!!

Friendship essentially involves a classifiable kind of concern for your friend, a concern which might reasonably be understood as a kind of love. Philosophers from the ancient Greeks on have traditionally distinguished three notions that can properly be called love: agape (selfless love of one person for another without sexual implications), eros (physical attraction), and philia (a positive feeling of liking).

Agape is a kind of love that does not respond to the preceding value of its object but instead is thought to create value in the beloved; it has come through the Christian tradition to mean the sort of love God has for us persons as well as, by extension, our love for God and our love for human race in general.

As a counterpoint, eros (a desire for sexual intimacy) and philia (a positive feeling of liking) are generally understood to be tractable to the merits of their objects—to the beloved's properties, especially his goodness or beauty.

The difference is that eros is a kind of burning trust for an object, typically sexual in nature, whereas ‘philia’ originally meant a kind of displaying warmth regard or friendly feeling towards not just one's friends but also possibly towards family extremities, business partners.

Due to this reason, love and friendship often get chunked together as a single topic.

Friendship is a term used to denote conjunctive and confirmative conduct between two or more human being. The term FRIENDSHIP centers on the belief specific to social relationships. The relationship which necessitates reciprocal knowledge, admiration, and fondness along with a level of delivering help to friends in times of need or in crucial condition. Friends will receive each other's fellowship and exposes commitment towards each other, often to the point of selflessness. In a equivalence of personal relationships, friendship is considered to be closer than affiliation, although there is a range of degrees of affair in both friendships and affiliation.

As per the best of my knowledge, there is surety of dispute, hate and aloneness between two friends. It is better to solved out all the disputes as early as possible, keeping in the mind that we are made for each other up to the end of the world. Why all disputes happened in the friendship?

It is only because of these two true friends never know the depth and meaning of friendship. Each and every friend on this globe should have to repair their friendship by following 7 steps. Plushy Airports of UK

It’s my dream to fly towards London … yes; I would like to touch the land of London especially at London Heathrow Airport …. my brother-in-law had a lot of experience to foreign countries, particularly at UK … every time I told him that, “one day, I will be there” but the day never comes in my life till time … I have got my passport 1 year back …. Every day I am only dreaming about the London Heathrow …. just dreaming and nothing else.

Why I fond of this UK land? Because only of its entire lavishness airports like Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Manchester.

Before moving towards above airports, just go through some important details.

Heathrow, one of the corpus (i.e. a capital source, the income derived from it) airport of London. It is one of the most bighearted and fussiest airport for passenger dealings. This is one of the heaviest traffic carrying airport covers more external rider dealings than any other airport on this globe.

London Heathrow airport is situated at west of the Central London i.e. England just 24 kms aside of this place. It has 2 collimate independent runways which are running east-west and having 4 termini. Good news for all of you …. The 5th terminal is going to open for the world on 27th March, 2008 to hold immense passenger traffic at this lavish airport.

Guys, here I forgotten one thing to tell you; specifically about your stay nearby London Heathrow airport. If your business deals somewhere or nearby the circle of this place or you already planned for UK with these 4 soils of London please make sure about your stay within the cheapest range of hotels at London Heathrow Airport. Coz, more you save, more you enjoy even on business tour.

Now, just turn around at London Gatwick Airport. Just plan to visit so many good and fantastic place nearby the London Gatwick Airport. Last month my brother-in-law had a nice experience with a fabulous airport hotel i.e. Sofitel hotel at London Gatwick. He stayed here in November 2007 and January 2008 for a conference before a morning flight to Stansted Airport for another business meeting. On his first stay he had an Executive room with a King sized bed, flat screen TV - very intimate. On his second stay he shared a twin room with his cousin - again very informal and a very high touchstone of interior decoration. The Sofitel beds are the most comfortable ever. The food at this hotel is of a very high measure too. This hotel is very convenient for pre-flight stays with easy connection to both terminals. It is also a fabulous hotel for conferences. Before he move towards Stansted Airport, he already booked 1 night through airparks at cheapest rate including 8 days parking for an early flight the next day for Manchester. Special thing is here, that he had booked 1 night here at last minute with great discounted price. This all worked out fine and he don't have anything particularly disconfirming to say. Ineluctably, food and drink are fairly pricey and the bus to the airport is only every half an hour (it is too far to walk). He spent one night at this hotel because his flight to Manchester was delayed for 24 hours. He had stayed in Radisson SAS Hotel London Stansted Airport, in a 2 star b&b in Winchester. He has got an experience which has to be treated to a night in a luxury hotel like this after that! (Image Source : Google)

His last stay at Manchester Airport. My claver and wise brother-in-law saved a lot of money on the dealing of 1 night and 1 day at last minute basis at Hotel Crowne Plaza Manchester Airport. This hotel posited 500 yards from main airport terminal (24-hour courtesy bus) & opposite to Manchester Airport train station. This hotel has really lovely air con or the heat on really big room and tea coffee facilities did not hear to much noise. It is easy to work to from airport. He replied that if I have got a one more chance he could not search any more hotel prior to this one. (Image Source : Google)

Guys, you really could not imagine, what he gifted me? A DELL's laptop having a price of $ 980. I told him, it is not necessary to buy a high price stuff for me. What he replied, ''Jiju, it is due to only I have stayed in cheapest hotel at UK. It is only for you, coz you gave me a hint and good information about cheapest hotel of UK territories." I just can't imagine that my info help him in this way. Now, my will power increased to fly over UK ... till just wait for a good moment .... that's it!!

If you plant honesty, it will determine what you will reap later!!

A successful business man was growing old
and knew it was time to choose a successor to take over the business. Instead of choosing one of his directors or his children, he decided to do something different.

He called all the young executives in his company together. "It is time for me to step down and choose the next CEO," he said. "I have decided to choose one of you."

The young executives were shocked, but the boss continued. "I am going to give each one of you a seed today - a very special seed. I want you to plant the seed, water it, and come back here one year from today with what you have grown from the seed I have given you. I will then judge the plants that you bring, and the one I choose will be the next CEO."

One man, named Jim, was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed.

He went home and excitedly, told his wife the story. She helped him get a pot, soil and compost and he planted the seed.

Every day, he would water it and watch to see if it had grown. After about three weeks, some of the other executives began to talk about their seeds and the plants that were beginning to grow. Jim kept checking his seed, but nothing ever grew.

Three weeks, four weeks, five weeks went by, still nothing. By now, others were talking about their plants, but Jim didn't have a plant and he felt like a failure.

Six months went by - still nothing in Jim's pot. He just knew he had killed his seed. Everyone else had trees and tall plants, but he had nothing. Jim didn't say anything to his colleagues, however. He just kept watering and fertilizing the soil - he so wanted the seed to grow.

A year finally went by and all the young executives of the company brought their plants to
the CEO for inspection. Jim told his wife that he wasn't going to take an empty pot. But she asked him to be honest about what happened.

Jim felt sick at his stomach. It was going to be the most embarrassing moment of his life, but he knew his wife was right.

He took his empty pot to the board room. When Jim arrived, he was amazed at the variety of plants grown by the other executives. They were beautiful--in all shapes and sizes. Jim put his empty pot on the floor and many of his colleagues laughed. A few felt sorry for him!

When the CEO arrived, he surveyed the room and greeted his young executives.

Jim just tried to hide in the back.

"My, what great plants, trees, and flowers you have grown," said the CEO.

"Today one of you will be appointed the next CEO!"

All of a sudden, the CEO spotted Jim at the back of the room with his empty pot. He ordered the financial director to bring him to the front.

Jim was terrified. He thought, "The CEO knows I'm a failure! Maybe he will have me fired!" When Jim got to the front, the CEO asked him what had happened to his seed. Jim told him the story.

The CEO asked everyone to sit down except Jim. He looked at Jim, and then announced to the young executives, "Here is your next Chief Executive! His name is Jim!"

Jim couldn't believe it. Jim couldn't even grow his seed. How could he be the new CEO the others said?

Then the CEO said, "One year ago today, I gave everyone in this room a seed. I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it, and bring it back to me today. But I gave you all boiled seeds; they were dead - it was not possible for them to grow.

All of you, except Jim, have brought me trees and plants and flowers.

"When you found that the seed would not grow, you substituted another seed for the one I gave you. Jim was the only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with my seed in it. Therefore, he is the one who will be the new Chief Executive!"

If you plant honesty, you will reap trust!
If you plant goodness, you will reap friends!
If you plant humility, you will reap greatness!
If you plant perseverance, you will reap contentment!
If you plant consideration, you will reap perspective!
If you plant hard work, you will reap success!
If you plant forgiveness, you will reap reconciliation!

So, be careful what you plant now; it will determine what you will reap later.

Late Hour Working

I have in great doubt that this post was written by Infosys' Naranyana Murthy. Nevertheless, this post has conspicuous success.

What he says, "I dislike people who stay back and work late on a regular basis". Not only are they spoiling the "work culture" as this post says, they are also skewing a lot of other things. Most of the times, these extra hours are not correctly recorded against the job assignment. And almost 100% of the time, nobody gets paid overtime for the extra work. So, the project's and management's cost and effort estimates are skewed and screwed. Nobody realizes the true cost of getting something done. This not only impacts the current project, but also impacts all future projects because estimates on future projects are to a large extent based on the cost of similar past projects. I have seen Indian managers deliberately shrink project schedules and team sizes expecting suckers to work late.

Just read, What Mr. Narayan Murthy said,

It's half past 8 in the office but the lights are still on...
AC's still running, coffee machines still buzzing...
And who's at work? Most of them ??? Take a closer look...
All or most specimens are ??
Something male species of the human race...
Look closer...again all or most of them are bachelors...
And why are they sitting late? Working hard? No Way !!!
Any guesses??
Let's ask one of them...

Here we get to surf, AC, phone, food, coffee...
that is why I am working late....
Importantly no bosssssssssss!!!!

This is the scene in most research centers and software companies and other off-shore offices.

Bachelors "TIME-PASSING" during late hours in the office just because they say they've nothing else to do...

NOW WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES...

"WORKING" (for the record only) late hours soon becomes part of the institute or company culture.

With bosses more than eager to provide support to those "WORKING" late in the form of TAXI VOUCHERS, FOOD VOUCHERS and of course GOOD FEEDBACK, (oh, he's a hard worker...goes home only to change...!!).

They aren't helping things too...

To hell with bosses who don't understand the difference between "sitting" late and "working" late !!!

Very soon, the boss start expecting all employees to put in extra working hours.

So, My dear BACHELORS let me tell you, life changes when you get married and start having a family....office is no longer a priority, family is....and

That's when the problem starts...because you start having commitments at home too.

For your boss, the earlier "hardworking" guy suddenly seems to become a "early leaver" even if u leave an hour after regular time...after doing the same amount of work.

People leaving on time after doing their tasks for the day are labeled as WORK-SHIRKERS...

Girls who thankfully always (its changing now a days...though) leave on time are labeled as "NOT UP TO IT". All the while, the bachelors pat their own back and carry on "working" not realizing the work culture at their own place and never realize that they would have to regret at one point of time.

SO WHAT's the MORAL of the STORY??

Very clear, LEAVE ON TIME !!!
Never put in extra time - "UNLESS REALLY NEEDED"
Don't stay back un-necessarily and spoil your company work culture which will in turn cause inconvenience to you and your colleagues.

There are hundred other things to do in the evening.... LEARN MUSIC... LEARN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE.... TRY a SPORT....Table Tennis...CRICKET...... Importantly get a GIRL or BOY Friend, take him/her around town.... And for heaven's sake net cafe rates have dropped to an all-time low (plus, no fire-walls) and try cooking for a change. Take a tip from the SMIRNOFF Ad : "LIFE's CALLING, WHERE ARE YOU??"

IT'S A TYPICAL INDIAN MENTALITY THAT WORKING FOR LONG HOURS MEANS VERY HARD WORKING AND 100% COMMITMENT ETC.

The reason behind it just a simple, people who regularly sit late in the office don't know to manage their time.

Just think before rising your hands !!!
